Clean blue glass tile along a pool edge, with clear water and desert mountains in the distance

Pool tile cleaning across the High Desert and Inland Empire

Remove stubborn calcium deposits and mineral buildup from your pool tile. Our media-blasting process helps restore the original color and look of your tile without the expense of replacing it.

What builds up on pool tile

The white or gray band at your waterline is mostly calcium. When pool water evaporates, the minerals in it stay behind and settle on the tile right where the water meets the air. Topping the pool off adds more minerals, so the band keeps growing.

Some of it is soft and flaky. Some of it bonds to the tile and gets hard as stone, and that kind won’t come off with a brush. Scraping at it can scratch the tile, which is why it usually stays there until it’s removed properly.

How we clean pool tile

We use professional media-blasting equipment and specialized cleaning techniques to remove stubborn calcium deposits and mineral buildup from your tile. The goal is to bring back the tile’s original look while treating your pool and the area around it with care.

We look at the type and condition of your tile before we start and pick the right technique for it. For most pools the water only has to come down about 6 inches below the tile, so there’s no need to drain it. The grout gets cleaned along with the tile.

We take pride in cleaning up after ourselves. No mess.

Don’t replace it, REVIVE it

Tile that looks ruined is often just buried under calcium. Taking the buildup off brings back the tile’s natural color for a lot less than tearing it out and setting new tile.

With over 12 years of hands-on experience in the pool industry, we understand pools, tile surfaces and the challenges of stubborn calcium buildup.

Pool tile cleaning questions

How long does a typical cleaning take?

Most home pool tile cleaning jobs are done in a few hours, depending on the size of the pool and how heavy the calcium is. Bigger pools or heavier buildup can take longer. We’ll give you a time frame before we start.

Do I need to drain the pool?

Not completely! For most pool tile cleaning we only need the water about 6 inches below the tile to reach the calcium. If you’re also having the pool acid washed, it will need to be drained.

Will the cleaning damage my tile or grout?

Done correctly, media blasting removes calcium from suitable pool tile without damaging it. We check the type and condition of your tile before cleaning and choose a technique that keeps the risk of damage low.

How do I know if my pool tile needs cleaning?

If you see white, chalky calcium deposits, stubborn mineral buildup or a dull, discolored waterline, it’s probably time. Those deposits are hard to remove with regular brushing.

Do you clean the grout too?

Yes. The grout is cleaned as part of the tile job, so it isn’t a separate service.
